Our Day on the Lake

The boy's and I spent the day on the lake with some friends last weekend while Jeremy was in College Station picking up his baby...a.k.a. his new smoker! We had such a great time. Houston had never been in a boat before and although I think he might have been a little apprehensive at first, he LOVED it!!! He even rode the inner tube for the first time too!

And Ryan's sister Kylie...or Kywee as Houston call her...

Funyun Head...Just like his momma...

I could just eat them up!

My butt was so sore after that...

So excited to be in the boat...

Bubble Boy...

I had it all planned out to take the boys to Chandor Gardens this past weekend so that I could take some photos of them there. The Gardens are BEAUTIFUL and I finally (after only 1 year) figured out the perfect setting for my camera to take the best outdoor photos but then I came home to this…

Poor Little Guy! We were without a sitter last week and they went to work with Jeremy for a few days. Apparently Austin was lifting some pipe pieces as if they were weights and turned around and caught Houston in the eye. His eye was so swollen that first night, but by the next morning it was just bruised and ugly!

After all the injuries Mr. Fearless has had in his life, maybe we’ve got this all wrong. Maybe he’s just accident-prone. Maybe, we should invest in a bubble to keep him safe in!

Splish Splash at the Bedford Spash

Aunt Jenny came for a short visit last week. She was on her way to Buffalo, New York for work and had to fly through Dallas anyway so stopped to visit us for a 3-day-layover. Ha! Since we drove into Dallas to pick her up at the Love Field, we stopped by the Bedford Splash on the way home.

Here the boys are getting ready to jump in...

Austin hanging out in the toddler area...

Houston playing on the splash-pad and trying to get a drink of water...

The Boys had a BLAST!!! It really in a nice waterpark and very reasonably priced. They have an awesome toddler area too where the water is only 1 1/2 feet deep. Houston loved this area. He would have definatly stayed there forever if he could have.

I really need to invest in a water camera. We spend WAY too much time in the water to not have one. I just don't trust H to not splash me with my mega-expensive camera in tow...

Our Day At The Beach...

Well lake actually...Lake Granbury to be exact. Granbury is just about a 25 minute drive from Weatherford so I took the boys and Ryan (our adopted child...a.k.a...Austin's BFF) to the lake for some fun. We packed a cooler and ate lunch there on the "beach." The water was so warm...more like bath water. It was so nice and peaceful...Not too crowded at all and all three boys LOVED it. We met a nice older couple there and they had their lawn chairs sitting in the middle of the lake. What a Life!!! That's definately my plan for out next visit.

Here are all three boys swimming...

Austin and Ryan and Houston being goofy behind them...

A Close-Up...

Those goggles KILL me...He looks so funny! Although, Jeremy says they make him look like me, so maybe there not so funny!

My Big Boy...

Mr. Fearless...You can kind-of see the bridge in the background behind Houston. Austin and Ryan jumped off it into the water and thought it was AWESOME. Apparently, that is forbidden. But, in my defense, I only saw the signs that said "No Diving" not the ones that said "No Diving and then in tee-tiny print below them "or jumping"...My Bad!

Building a "sand-fort"...he said castles are for girls!

Flowers for Nana...

The boys and I took flowers to my mom's grave when we were in Lubbock...She always LOVED bright flowers so we made sure to take some vibrant ones.

Our Boys Are Back And We're Gonna Have A Good Time...

Hey now...Hey now...Our Boys Are Back!

The boys spent 12 days (a.k.a...the longest twelve days ever) in Lubbock visiting with their Grandparents. We met my dad in Abilene Sunday to pick them up. We made the most of the trip and visited the zoo while we were there...and...of course ate some yummy El Chico!

Here's PaPa with all of his boys!

And Austin being silly...It was misting a little that day, but it felt wonderful. I almost dreaded going in the dead of summer with the heat we've been having lately...so the nice light rain was a plus!

And now mocking the flamingos...

My Momma...

This was the last photo ever taken...we took this Thursday night and she died Friday morning. Her hair had just started to fall out again the weekend before from the new chemo she started. She had just shaved her head right before she went back into the hospital and with her being in ICU the boys hadn't been able to see her. This was Houston's first time to see her without hair and he thought it was pretty cool.

So today marks the two years...They say that time heals all wounds and while I do believe that time lessens the pain, I don't think I'll really ever get over losing my mom. I still miss her like crazy. I took the boys to Lubbock last week and we visited her grave. I'm really not sure why. I know that she's not really there...that she's really with me all the time...whenever I need her...but I felt compelled to visit her grave.

One of her last wishes...more like demands...she was calling out during those last few minutes was that she wanted us to promise that we wouldn't let her grandbabies forget her. When we were driving out to her grave, I told Houston we were about to take Nana some flowers, and he asked me who Nana was. He was only 18 month when she passed away, so he really only remembers her in photos but I felt like I let my mom down because I let him forget her...

At church yesterday we sang In The Garden and Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, both songs my mom loved, and we actually played In The Garden at her funeral. Needless to say, the waterworks were falling like crazy. Still not a day passes that I don't subconsciously think "I need to call my mom and tell her about..." Just fill in the blank...I want to call my mom and tell her everything that happens each day!

Houston's Head Trauma

Houston's latest injury...thankfully this one didn't require any stitches. Mr. Fearless was playing in his cousin's room. He was leaning back in her Dora chair and fell backwards slamming his little head into the side of a table. Go Figure.

So far we've only had one trip to the ER with him when he was 2, which required 3 stiches, but I'm sure we'll have many more to come

Hoping to get our blog rolling again...

I'm hoping to be better with posting again. The boys are changing daily and growing up so fast! Austin is now 9 years old and will start the 4th grade in August. Houston is 3 1/2 now and in to everything. They are such a blessing!
