Our day in Iphone photos

We had another chill day.  The boys let me sleep until 10:15 a.m.!  I'm not sure when the last time I slept past 7:30 a.m. was so that was really nice.  Jeremy said the boys kept trying to sneak past him to wake me up but he wouldn't let them.  So sweet.
Houston did a little reading...

I organized my jewelry armoire and drawers and found jewelry I forgot I had.  Score!

We all did a little swimming...Jeremy asked who that old guy with the boys was. LOL.  He seriously didn't realize that was him.

Houston found one of his little buddies from his class that we didn't know lived here...

So he was very excited when he got to come over a play for a little bit this afternoon...

I had a few orders for teacher signs to complete so I did a little painting...

And Houston and I gathered his box top labels...

We had the best lunch today.  I had been craving homemade burgers and I seasoned the meat with a package of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix, Worcheshire Sauce, and some Tony's seasoning.  Yummalicious!  And we had some white-chocolate covered strawberries.  Those were mainly for me...I love white chocolate!!!

And now we're ready to get going on another week!  We hope all is well.

Stacy

Success

We've had a pretty low-key weekend so far...A little bit of cleaning, little bit of organizing, and lots of swimming.  The boys went swimming twice today!  The pool totally makes up for having to live in an apartment.  Jeremy had to work a little this morning so the boys and I headed to town with my $22 to get our groceries for the week.

When we moved here, I started a budget and my goal was to keep under $200 for two-weeks worth of groceries.  I created a three-week meal plan (in case we don't make it to the store at the end of two-weeks and because my OCD won't let my pantry get too bare) and it's been awesome.

Now I've got $1.30 left but enough food for all our meals this week plus about 3-4 more.  The boys (and me) were turning into fast-food junkies for this has helped us immensely.  We've only ate out twice, our Saturday night treat, since we've moved here!

Today was also my day to clean the boy's room. When we moved here, I divided our house into 7 sections and tackle one section each night. It's so much better and easier than having to waste a whole weekend cleaning. And this way I can clean a room top to bottom (even the vents and windows) and it only takes 30-45 minutes each day

Now it's movie night and time for pop-corn and a flashback from the 80's & 90's. So far the boys have been introduced to Footloose and Over the Top! I remember watching Dirty Dancing when I was much younger that Austin but I don't think we're quite ready for that.  Ha!

Where has this week gone...

I can't believe the first week of school is almost over. And more importantly...I can't believe it's almost September. And for the first time ever, I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet!!!

We got some much needed rain today. Praise the Lord! And I'm off for the 2nd weekend in a row. Praise The Lord again! I so love my new branch and my new boss.

And now we're ready for some football. WHOOP!

Day 3

And no I'm not going to do this everyday.  :)  Maybe.  Probably.  Hopefully.  Ha!

We had a much better morning. Thank You God! After two busy days, we all needed a good night's rest. And both boys woke up refreshed and ready for the day!

I was even asleep before midnight and I don't think that's happened in months.  We hope all is well.

Day 2

The boys were less than thrilled today when I pulled their covers back at 6:30 a.m.  They requested omelettes today and even with that yummy-ness it took an act of congress to get them to join the land of the living.  I guess the newness has worn off...

Houston is already fighting me on his clothes too.  He doesn't want to be "cute" anymore.  He just wants to wear t-shirts.  Sheesh!  And this is only the beginning...

I tried to my best to get pictures..it was a battle I wasn't willing to fight...

It's now 7:45 p.m. and they are sacked out! And have been since 7:00 p.m. Hallelujah! I'm praying for a better morning tomorrow.

On a side note, we met with our builder today and signed the initial contract! Woot Woot. They ordered our plans and we'll have our red-line meeting in a few weeks and this ball will be rollin' rollin' rollin'.

Stacy

Lights, Camera, Action

Houston already learned a new song today and it is absolutely adorable to watch him sing it. I so love this little man!!!

First Day of School, First Day of School

Both the boys celebrated a few "firsts" today.  Austin had his first day of 6th grade in a brand new school and in a brand new town.  I attended all 13 years at the same school so I know I would have been petrified but he was very calm, and totally cool.  Houston celebrated his first day of Kindergarten.  He was very big and brave (and so was his momma).

Here's a recap of our day..

We started our day off bright and early.  Over the past two weeks, I've heard stories of the school day morning traffic so I knew we'd better get an early start.  All the schools are located in a cluster on a two-lane road and with 20+ classes per grade things get pretty crazy pretty fast.

The boys woke up with a visit from the back-to-school fairy.  Yes, I realize that this is very childish for Austin, but Houston loved it and asked me if she came every day he goes to school.  He said he'd like to go Saturday too, if that's the case. :)

I found these certificates online, and just couldn't pass them up! Such a cute idea, especially if your little one is apprehensive and scared.  Houston's been to many different schools before, but I just never know what to expect from him.

At the boys request, they ate bacon, hard-boiled eggs and orange juice for breakfast and then got ready for their big day.

Houston's classroom is part of the frog fairway. They're the blue frog pod.  He was super duper excited and couldn't wait to leave this morning.  I think he wore his backpack for about 30 minutes before we actually left.

Austin is getting too big...we already have to have the name-brand clothing...I can't believe he'll be in Jr. High next year.  His school's only dress code is that shirts have to be tucked in.  He's not too happy about that, especially with athletic shorts, which he says, and I quote, "will look pretty gay!"

They both picked out their 1st day outfits...of course they had to show their Aggie pride.  Gig Em'

Houston with his size 3 GINORMOUS feet...Such a big boy.

We dropped Austin off first.  I had planned to take him in, but we quickly realized, that was far from cool so I just walked him to the door.  We didn't want to embarrass him on his first day!  Ha!  I'll save that for later.

Houston and his teacher, Mrs. Smith. She is so cute and sweet and he already loves her. He's gonna have so much fun!!!

He's trying to be big. At this point, he really didn't want me to leave. I thought he was about to start crying put he put on a brave face as I left...he actually looks like he's giving me the evil eye.

The Momma, scrap-booker, and memory-box freak in me, adores this. I so love that Mrs. Smith took the time to document their first day for us. I will treasure this forever!

They ended their busy day with a taco supper and banana-nut muffins for dessert and a trip to the pool!  And now we're gearing up for day two.

Stacy

Pre Back-To-School Fun Day

For one last blow-out before the school year started, Jeremy took the boys fishing today. They both loved it and said they caught "hundreds" of perch and catfish.

As you can see, Austin wanted nothing to do with actually touching the fish.

But Houston, had no problem. He thought it was pretty awesome!

We're spending tonight picking out first day of school outfits, packing back-packs and hopefully, hitting the sack early. We shall see.

Stacy

The vacation is officially over...I'm BACK!!!

So much (too much) has happened since I last updated. Austin is now 11 1/2 and about to start 6th grade. (How is that even possible?) Houston is 5 1/2 and headed to Kindergarten!!! And I'm on an emotional overload because of it. My babies were still babies last I looked.

We've recently moved...again...this time to Mont Belvieu about 1 hour South of Houston. We've only been here two weeks so far but the boys seem to like it. Right now we're living in an apartment. I haven't done that since college so its quite a change from a "real" home but it's only temporary and our house should be completed by February! Woot Woot!!!

I'm hoping this will serve as a way for our families to keep up with the in's and out's of our busy life. Love to all.

XOXO,
Stacy
